Hello my name is Mark Blocker and in this segment we are going to cover how to do chainsaw maintenance. Ok, the chainsaw maintenance procedures are going to be laid out in the operators manual for the chainsaws. And that's going to vary from different manufacturers to the different models of saws. But basically what it consists of is making sure your that your chain tension. Chain stays at the proper tension. And that can be adjusted by loosening the two nuts that hold the cover bar and chain assembly. And you loosen those up. And the adjustment actually on this model saw is found in between the two nuts. And by turning in the clockwise position that will tighten the bar up. And turning counter clockwise loosens the bar up. Remember while making this adjustment you want to make sure you hold the bar to the chain up in a tight position. Once you make the adjustment you get it to the position correctly where you want it and just tighten it down by tightening those two nuts. To sharpen the chainsaw. That procedure is also outlined in the chainsaw maintenance manual. And you just need to make sure you have the proper angle and the proper cutting tool for the size chain that you're operating. Other maintenance features on the chainsaw is maintaining the air filter, making sure it stays clean. It can be removed by this back procedure. This just uses a plastic air filter. It can be cleaned off with a brush and the use of compressed air. Periodically you're going to need to change a spark plug. You can do this with the multi purpose tool that comes with the chainsaw. If you don't have that you can use a simple socket and ratchet assembly. Each chainsaw maintenance procedure is going to vary from chainsaw manufacturer to manufacturer and the model. And depending on the hours the chainsaw is being used. That's how you maintain a chainsaw.
