"Hi I'm Dr. Carol Clark. I'm a sex therapist and a licensed mental health counselor here in Miami, Florida. In this clip we're going to talk about how to protect against herpes. Herpes is a sexually transmitted disease that is transmitted during any kind of sexual behavior which could include kissing. Oral-genital, oral-oral, genital-genital, anal-genital, oral-genital are all behaviors that can transmit herpes. And so some kind of barrier is needed to effectively prevent the transmission of this virus. Since it's a virus it is not curable we can only treat symptoms. Use a condom, use a dental dam, and avoid sex with partners with whom you're unfamiliar or with multiple partners. The best way of protecting yourself is safe sex. Have sex with someone you know who's history is known to you and get checked frequently. Once again, this is Dr. Carol Clark from Miami, Florida."
