"Hi, I'm Dr. Carol Clark. I'm a sex therapist and licensed mental health counselor here in Miami, Florida. In this clip, we're going to talk about how one may get pregnant while on birth control. The birth control methods include barrier methods, which are condoms, diaphragms, cervical caps. And if these are inserted incorrectly or used incorrectly, then semen can escape and make its way into the uterus and fertilize an egg. Other methods include hormonal methods, such as birth control pills, injections, and the IUD that uses hormones. And if these are used improperly, if the timing is not kept to, if someone is not taking their pills every day or getting their injection when they're supposed to, then these methods may fail as well. Another popular way of trying to prevent pregnancy is the withdrawal method, but there is semen in the pre-ejaculate and so that semen may fertilize an egg. Once again, this is Dr. Carol Clark in Miami, Florida."
