Hi, my name is Charlotte Skiles. I'm a nutrition consultant and clinical herbalist with Eat in Peace Wellness Consulting, located in Austin, Texas, and today I'm going to talk to you about foods to eat as a vegetarian. And, simple enough, vegetarians should eat a lot of vegetables, but that requires a lot of work. It requires a lot of dedication to be a good vegetarian in the society that we live in, or resources where other people can prepare your food, basically. Because a vegetarian diet can really work for some people, not so well for others, but for some it can be very, very good. But the key point here is that the vegetarian eat plants and avoid grilled cheese and macaroni and cheese and all these fast food vegetarian products that are not healthy. So, other foods to eat as a vegetarian... you've got nuts and seeds, you've got really good quality vegetables, berries and fruits, good quality dairy products--if that indeed is appropriate for you. There's a lot of people out there with dairy allergies that don't even know it, so you want to make sure you are someone who tolerates dairy well. But it can be a very good source of protein for vegetarians, as well as eggs, eggs can be very nice too. So yeah, that's what I would recommend for foods for a vegetarian: vegetables.
