Acai berries, like all colorful berries, are very healthy and support the vascular system and cardiovascular health. Find out why acai berries are usually found in powder or emulsified form with information from a nutritionist and herbalist in this free video on nutrition.
Hi, my name is Charlotte Skiles. I'm a nutrition consultant and clinical herbalist, with Eat in Peace Wellness Consulting, located in Austin, Texas, and the question today is about acai berry, so the acai berry has many health benefits. It's from the Amazon, and this berry is particularly high in fat actually, which makes it degrade quickly, so the products that we have on the market, are basically in powder form, or they're in kind of an emulsified form, in a little package that's in the freezer section of the grocery store, so you can easily add them to smoothies, or even eat them as Popsicles, but the bottom line, is that there's nothing really truly, totally unique about the acai berry. It's just a berry, and berries, all berries, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, you name them, are all very, very healthy, mainly because of their color. We want to eat foods with color, because that indicates a different nutrient profile, and the acai berry is a deep dark purple, which means that it's very supportive, for the inflammatory processes in the body, helping to kind of put out fires here and there, and also supporting the vascular system. Bioflavonoids found in berries, is a substance in the body, that really feeds the vascular system, the capillaries, the arteries and the veins, and keeps them in good structure, and that's key to cardiovascular health, so that's what I have to say about the acai berry.
