"Hi, I'm Laura from YoungWritersWorkshops.com and I'm going to talk about how to write a biography report. In doing any report, research and reading is one of the most important first steps. So, research your topic and find out if there's enough information to write a good report, if you'll be able to find enough sources and that usually entails a trip to the library although using the Internet is also a really good way to get a sense of what sources are available. Now, your next step is going to be to write an outline once you've gathered some information together so that you have some specific steps to go...that you'll follow in writing your report. Next, you'll probably need to create some note cards, so as you're getting more information, create cards or some way to organize the information. And then you can go back and write to your outline, putting all the information into the categories for your outline. Now, one of the more likely places that you'll find information on your topic is an encyclopedia or non-fiction books. So, for example, if you were doing a report on the inventor of the Band-Aid, Earl Dickson, you might find something in an encyclopedia, that will give you just the basic information to start with. And then, you might also go and look that person up on the Internet or find more detailed books specifically about that person. And then, you'll use all of those resources to put together into your report. So, those are some ideas about how to write a biography report."
