Hi my name is Samir Malik and I'm an independent tutor for middle school and high school students in the Austin area. Today we are going to be discussing the domain of a function which I have written down here. The domain of a function is the complete set of all possible values of an independent variable in a function. The domain of a function is all possible x values which make that function work. So I'm going to give you some examples of that as well in an equation. Here we have seven which is less than x which has to be less than ten. So in this equation here we know that the domain of this function is x has to equal anything greater than seven and any number less than ten to make this equation true for the domain of this function. Also the denominator of a fraction cannot be zero when calculating the domain of a function and all values under the square root must be positive when calculating the domain of the function. So these are some examples and the definition of the domain of a function.
