This is one thing you do not want to do in the kitchen. I'm Jawara the Chef and I will show you teenagers how to cook. Why do you teens want to learn how to cook, why? Do you think it's a game, do you want to play with it or do you want to be serious? You have got to be very careful. If you want to learn how to cook you can but once you learn how to cook you will never go hungry but you have got to be careful and safe. The first thing you have got to do, you have got to get permission from your parents because you don't want to burn down the house. That is rule number one. The first thing that you should try to cook is the thing that you like to eat. You can find recipes in cookbooks, magazines and just surf on the web. Choose something simple, not too complicated stuff because you do not want to get bogged down with too many ingredients here and ingredients there and stuff and plus you have got to remember what are you trying to prepare to eat. So keep it plain and simple to start off and you'll be alright. The first thing is you have got to be organized when you are in the kitchen. You can't be messing around. O'kay I have went over my recipe a couple of times. I have got my tools out and I have got all my ingredients out. I have got my hand towels right here and now we are ready to start cooking but the first thing you have got to do is you have got to be organized and you have got to pay attention. First thing first you have got to go wash your hands. When you finish cooking make sure you turn the burner off. You still have to pay attention and concentrate. You might walk away and leave the burner on with nothing on it. That is no good. Safety first, safety first all the time. When you handle raw food on a cutting board make sure you clean that cutting board right away before you start working with your vegetables. Wash the cutting board and if you don't you are going to get very sick or you could die and do not do that trick and try to flip it over and use the clean side. Always clean as you go. Always use a sharp knife. A sharp knife can be your best friend or your worst enemy. The duller the knife the more pressure you have to apply, as long as your knife is real sharp and stuff you should never go wrong. Make sure your knife is sharp. When you use a knife make sure your parents or guardian or someone know how to use a knife who is around you in the kitchen for safety purposes. This is a big must. I'm Jawara the Chef and that is tips for teens to learn how to cook. Enjoy.
