Under a typical health insurance plan, you can have dependents such as a spouse or children covered under your individual health insurance policy, which you may obtain through work or through a broker or on your own, etcetera. But a domestic partner would, potentially also, could be covered through this type of health insurance policy if they were named as a dependent or as a part of the overall health insurance policy. So it's important to understand, when looking at your health insurance policy, who is covered, what is covered.
