"This is John Pinelli, financial representative talking to you today about health insurance for individuals with pre-existing conditions. Often times people may have pre-existing conditions which would be any type of condition that had existed prior to seeking out coverage for health. So these may be things like cancer, kidney stones, various types of heart or lung issues, there are a whole number of issues medically that could be considered what you might call a pre-existing condition. Pre-existing conditions will not necessarily exclude you from health coverage but it may make the process a little bit more difficult. So it's important to look at the individual company that you're going with for that coverage to determine whether or not you will be eligible to obtain that coverage. Employers cannot discriminate against those individuals with pre-existing conditions so you should be able to obtain coverage through your employer despite the fact that you may have a pre-existing condition. For other types of insurance such as disability or life, pre-existing conditions may have a significant impact on the coverage you are able to obtain and the prices you will pay for that coverage. So it's important to talk to an agent when seeking out these types of insurance policies to see what the underwriting requirements are and whether or not you will be excluded from coverage or whether or not you'll be rated at a higher rate for that same amount of coverage. So this has been John Pinelli, financial representative talking to you today about insurance for individuals with pre-existing conditions."
