I'm Roger Groh and today we are here to talk about how do you select a financial planner. Well if it were me the first criteria would be is that person really going to work on my behalf or do they have another agenda such as trying to sell me another product based upon what they learned about me so rule number one is to distinguish between those two sides. Number two is ask your friends or your banker where you might be able to receive help. Then after you have received a number of names that you think are qualified ask those specific people for references of people that they work with and call them up and talk to them and try to get an idea if the person that the financial planner has already worked with is a lot like you meaning if you want to know about the amount of real estate that you should own over the next 30 years you better make sure that you deal with a financial planner that understands real estate. On the other hand if you are trying to aggressively plan your tax structure going forward you better plan carefully with a financial planner that really understands tax so be sure that they are used to dealing with people in your own income bracket or dealing with similar issues and have the substance in order to really help you and then most important get referrals because they're everything and then you will really know if that person works for you or not and if they're qualified to really help you. I'm Roger Groh and that's a little bit bout how to pick a financial planner.
