Cleaning Oxidation Off of Gray Plastic Car Bumpers

"Good afternoon. My name's Tom Brintzenhofe, certified master tech out of Redding, PA. And today, we're going to talk a little bit how to get oxidation off off a gray bumper. Now, oxidation occurs over time with, you get stuff down on here. You get any kind of chemicals, tars, and it sits for a long period of time, and the sun beats down on it. It'll fade this a little bit. Sometimes the dirt down in there, it'll add to it a little bit. But the easiest way to get it off is give yourself a little polishing compound. Just a little tiny bit, you don't need too much. Just pick your spot. It's going to take a little elbow grease here to get it off, but you might have to do this one or two times. Just rub it in real good. Cheesecloth works a little bit better than a paper towel, but it's what I had handy at the moment. Just rub this in, for the best part, until it dries here. You'll actually be able to see the difference. As you're going along, you'll see it'll get a lot; the color will come out. You can actually see some of the dirt, grime, old paint that's coming off of it. You can see right there on the paper. Once you get it all dried in there, just go back over it a little bit with the clean side of your towel, cheesecloth, or whatever you're using. There's really not much to it. It just takes a little elbow grease. But that's about all you need to do to take oxidation off of a gray bumper."
