How to Repair Windshield Scratches

"Good afternoon my name is Tom Brintzenhofe, Certified Master Tech out of Redding, PA. Today I'm going to talk a little bit about how to repair windshield scratches. Now there are lots of different degrees on windshield scratches. A lot of them come from dirt getting built up on your windshield wipers and going back and forth it scratches the heel out of it so you get some deep ones and some minor ones. Unfortunately the minor ones they are easy enough to get off but some of the major ones, I have got a few of them here on this car and there is just no way to get them off and unfortunately the windshield will have to be replaced if they are bothering your vision that much but I will show you how to get these minor ones off here. Get yourself a little polishing compound a light compound, nothing heavy duty. Turtle Wax has a nice polishing compound. If you get a heavy cut rubbing compound and you put it on your windshield you will end up creating more scratches than you are trying to take off but get something nice and fine. If you find yourself a scratch like you find right here just rub it on there, you are going to take a little elbow grease to rub it back and forth. A lot of times these will come out but if they are dug deep into the glass and it is just not a surface scratch you are never going to get them off but you just rub it back and forth and you will see that it will start drying up and give you a nice little haze there. Once it all dries up and you have pretty much done all the polishing you are going to do, go back with a little Windex and just wipe it clean. That's about the best way I can tell you how to remove a window scratch."
