"Hi, I'm Kelli. I'm an aesthetician and makeup artist at Ulta Salon and Cosmetics and I'm going to tell you about some economical ways you can treat and diminish brown spots on the face. One of the easiest things that you can do is to use a glycolic acid based product. You can find these really in any drug store. They come in a lot of varieties from serum form, which is this to an actual lotion form, and you can find 'em really at any drug store for under ten dollars. Basically what your alpha-hydroxies are going to do is they're going to penetrate deeper into the skin, bring your damaged, hyper-pigmented cells to the surface, exfoliate, get rid of them and help your cells reproduce healthy cells that are going to create a more even tone. Another thing that you can do, and this is actually a skin brightening gel. This is not a very expensive product either, but this actually has an ingredient in it called hydro quinone which you can get at many dermatologist offices. And basically what this is, it's a pigment inhibitor, so it actually helps you prevent pigment from producing within the skin cells, so basically, when you have a darker spot, it's formed from a skin overproducing melanin. This helps to slow down that production of melanin and helps to lighten the dark spot. So those are some really economical ways that you can help to treat and diminish dark spots on the skin."
