"Hi, this is Sammi at the Animal Care Center in West Bountiful, Utah. We have Ruby here with us today, she's going to help demonstrate how to cut a Maltese, we don't have any in the clinic right now so she's going to help us. On the main part of their body you'll want to use nothing shorter than a number 4 blade, you can also use the longer attachment combs. A lot of people like to keep them longer, their top notch should be longer than the rest of their body, you can pull it back and clip it up with a bow or a barrette. For their eyes you'll want to get the thinning shears and trim carefully around their eyes. On their feet you'll want to make sure that they're cut rounded with a nice clean appearance, and shave in between the pads. The tail is left long and natural, trim just slightly to give it a clean look. The ears are also left long. You'll want to brush them with a slicker brush, making sure to get all the mats out, and finish up with a lime comb to make sure that all the mats are gone. If you'd like to contact us, please go to utahanimalcare.com."
