"Hi, this is Sammi at the Animal Care Center in West Bountiful, Utah. I have Ruby here with me. We're going to learn how to cut Malteses. We don't have any Malteses at the clinic right now, so she's going to help me demonstrate. On Malteses, you don't want to cut their body any shorter than a number four blade. A lot of times, they like to be left long and flowing. For the eyes, you'll want to use the thinning shears to trim slightly around the eyes, being careful not to get in the dog's eye. The best sort of brush to use on a Maltese would be a slicker brush. You want to go over their entire coat, making sure to get any tangles or mats, and then follow through with a comb to make sure that you've gotten anything. On their feet, you want to make sure that they are rounded, and also trim the nails as short as possible. Trim in between the pads with a number 40 blade. Their ears are left long and natural; their tails also left long -- trim slightly to give it a clean, neat appearance. If you'd like to contact us, go to our website at utahanimalcare.com."
