"Hello, I'm Dr. Deborah Wheeler. I'm the Vice President of Academic Affairs, at Argosy University, on the Salt Lake City campus, and I'm also a clinical psychologist. Today's topic, is how to teach your child the days of the week. If your child is interested in knowing what's today, what's happening today? you can do a couple of things. One, is to get a calendar, and to mark the days that are significant on the calendar. If you have church on Sunday, or you have an activity on Wednesday, maybe there's an upcoming birthday party on Saturday, mark those on the calendar, and do the countdown with the child, reviewing each day. Today is shopping Tuesday, or tomorrow we're going to go to visit someone. You can do this countdown with them. They can also decorate the calendar, putting fun stickers, or activities that are fun for them, to mark a special day that's coming up, and counting down. Another activity you can do, is to mark their days of the week for their clothes. That means on Saturday, you can set out an outfit for each day of the week, and then put a little tag on it, that says this is Monday's outfit, Tuesday's outfit, and etcetera. That way, each time they go to the closet, you can say today is Monday, and this is the outfit for Monday. Doing that will help them learn the days of the week, make it fun for them, and also be a preparation for the parents in advance. That always helps in the morning as well.
