Hi friends, I'm Mark Govan here with ABC Pest Control and a lot of people have asked do fleas live in human hair or can they live in human hair? Well normally fleas will not live on human hair by themselves however people sleeping, a lot of people sleep with a pet, they may have a favorite cat or a dog that they may have living in the home and what they will find is that the fleas will and can move off of the pet during the night and jump onto the adult and feed upon them. Now as you know, fleas do feed on blood and whether it's a pets blood or your blood, they really don't care as long as they're getting their blood meal. Now fleas develop from an egg which hatches into a little larval stage and then that pupates out into the adult flea and fleas would tend to be more found on a regular pet than they would on a human. So we don't normally in our business look at fleas wanting to be in on human hair but that fleas do want to be anywhere near a pet or where a pet may go on a regular basis. Well how can you get rid of fleas if you do find them in your home? Well one of the easiest ways that most homeowners can use to get rid of fleas is by going ahead and vacuuming the floor and doing a very thorough job if you have an area where a pet normally hangs out within the home, the pet, that area should always be treated as well as the pet itself and any areas that the pet may, let's say he's on a bed and he jumps off the bed, every time he jumped off the bed, the flea larva and eggs will fall off of the pet into the floor area where that jumping occurs. So if you really take care and vacuum that area very well and then throw the vacuum bag away, you will have a good chance of controlling fleas without even the use of a pesticide. So this is Mark Govan with ABC Pest Control in Largo, Florida hoping you have a pest free day.
