"How to care for a silk tie. A lot of things can happen to your tie. Um, one of the best things that you can do, though, is store it properly. You should not hang your tie like this. It creates creases and it can also stretch out the silk, depending on the weave. Um, what you should do is loosely roll it and set it either in a drawer or on a shelf or something like that. It will prolong the life of your tie. Also, ironing, if your silk tie becomes wrinkled after being in a knot for a while, you want to place like a sheet or a pressing cloth over it and then lightly, with medium heat, not high, go over the tie until the creases are gone. Steam is much better for ties than ironing but, if you don't have steam, then iron the way that I instructed."
