Hi, my name is Dave Andrews. Today I'm going to show you how to fix potential errors in your system registry. Lets go to our computer. Now I'm going to first show you what the registry is, lets just click on the start button, lets type in, reg edit and hit enter. Now in Vista you have to be in administrative accesses, so just click continue. This is your system registry. This is basically a collection of settings and different values that your computer uses for say say all the software that's installed that they have there on registry entries, and it basically uses it to keep track of your settings and any configurations that you've made in your program. Now the problem with the registry is that sometimes it can get really cluttered up, values can be left over from other programs, programs can sometimes cross over and set registry values that they shouldn't. So Microsoft years ago released a tool called Reg Clean which will go through and clean out your registry and fix any potential problems. Click on your start button, lets go to Internet Explorer, and in Google lets just type Microsoft Reg Clean. Now you're going to see a bunch of returned results here, and basically these are basically free sites where you can go and download Microsoft Reg Clean, you just click on one. They'll usually have a download site that you can click here, like right here, these are your download sites where you can get it. So after you download it, it'll be on your desktop, and lets just double click on Reg Clean to run it. Now what this is doing is this is scanning through our registry, the entire registry, and it's looking for any possible problems or mis-settings that Microsoft knows will cause problems on the computer. So lets just wait for this to finish. Now that it is finished scanning through our registry, all we have to do is click on the fix errors button, and it's that fast, it's gone through and fixed any errors it encountered. Now the good new is, it creates a backup file of any changes that it has made. And if we reboot and come across any problems it may have came across from this Reg Clean, we can just double click on that file and the registry will be restored to the settings it had before. My name is Dave Andrews, and I've just showed you how to fix potential problems in your computers registry.
