Hi this is Rachael Richardson with Nutrolution in Miami Beach, Florida. In this clip we are talking about what is morbid obesity? So just a definition of morbid obesity is really when you are obese enough or overweight enough that actually your chances of dying from obesity go up quite quite a lot and so just to look at that on a numeric level. There are a couple of different ways that we measure it. It would be over 140% of your ideal body weight so starting with what your ideal body weight is which as all know varies quite a lot but if you get over 140% then there is enough variance included into that number that you really need to be concerned and think about it and I am sure you are already aware if that is you. Another way is to have a BMI that is over 40 so your BMI is your Body Mass Index and if you search Body Mass Index you can come up with tons of charges where you can easily determine what is your BMI? As a nutritionist, however, I really look more at our body composition than I do at just how much we weight and so one tool that I use is a body fat analyzer. This is a BIA machine but it is analysis and it actually helps to measure when you hold it out and press Go it helps to press how much fat you have versus muscle versus bone versus water in your system so it gives you a more accurate understanding of what is going on inside your body.
