"I'm Bill Elzey with Showplace Lawns. How to make grass greener. Well, several things will help in that regard. One, once a year aerate it to open up that soil, get the grass to breath a lot better, also helps with your water penetration and your fertilizer penetration. Two, you need a regular watering schedule, one that allows you... one that will let the water work it's way all the way through and drain before you come back and put water in again. And then the other thing is to follow a proper fertilization program and this part of the country, we fertilize three times a year, April, June, and October. Those three fertilizers with the proper watering schedule and aeration and yes a proper mowing with a sharp blade definitely will keep your grass greener."
