"Hi, my name's John Bosworth. I'm a licensed mental health counselor in Saint Petersburg, Florida. I also happen to be a member of the Adjunct faculty at the University of South Florida. We're talking about types of psychology degrees. And basically a lot of people come to me in my class which is an introduction to the counseling profession class. And they ask about you know, what can you do with a psychology degree. What are some of the different fields that you can get in to with a psychology degree. What I like to do is have them explore what they're Interested in. Some people are interested in advocacy for the homeless or for the poor or case management in community mental health counseling sites. Some people want to build a high powered mental health practice or psychotherapy practice. All those things can be obtained with psychology degrees but the student, the student of psychology needs to know that there are certain steps that need to be taken and that's usually in the form of graduate school. Most bachelors degrees, you can't do a lot. You can work at a, at a you know a comfortable job as a mental health tech and maybe earn somewhere in the low twenties as far as salary. Most of the professional positions require an advanced degree which is usually a minimum of a masters degree and then two or three supervisor experience before the licensure happens. But some of the things or some of the specific areas that you can get in to are rehabilitation and mental health counseling, license and mental health counseling, counseling psychology, clinical psychology, clinical social work. Those are just a few of the areas that can be, that can be looked in to with a degree in psychology. My name's John Bosworth and we have been talking about the types of psychology degree."
