Hi, I'm Laura from youngwritersworkshops.com, and I'm going to talk about how to improve your writing skills. Some really basic things about writing, one basic truth is the more you write the better you can write. So the way to improve your writing skills is to write more, but more than that, writing for an audience. So writing in a writing group or with a writing partner can be a really good way to improve your writing skills. You'll be amazed how, when you know someone's going to read it, it really helps you to focus and you can think about your audience a little bit more when you know who that person in or when you have someone in mind you're writing for. So write in a group or with a partner. Read authors that you admire... the more reading you do, the more you can begin to decide how the stories you want to tell should sound. You can think about your voice more by reading other people's voices. There are some good tools out there for refreshers, such as an online writer's course. You could also find some books that will help you, especially if you need things like some brush up on your composition or grammar. It's never a bad thing to get a book and to use that as a way to help you improve your skills. You may try doing more correspondence, writing letters, anything you can do to use your writing in a way that you'll have an audience and you'll get some practice and will keep you engaged in improving your writing skills is a good step towards making that happen.
