Hi I'm Laura from Young Writer's Workshop dot com and I'm going to talk about how to write a petition. It's actually not a very difficult thing to write but some of the things about format are good to know. A very good way to go about, or to sort of organize and handle this petition is to take a legal pad and write your petition at the top of it. You'll also want to have a clipboard handy and so what you are going to do is write at the top of the legal pad you are going to have your statement, what it is you want to change specific details about you know, we the undersigned believe and then something specific. Then on all of the lines underneath this area you'll want to divide them up so you have a space for name, address, signature and the date. So those are the four areas of information that you need on each line. So number these lines down the sides so you'll be able to keep track of how many signers you have. And then of course you need a pen. So attach a string to you pen and tie it to the clipboard. Take your legal pad and put it into your clipboard. You've got everything right there. You've got the pen, and the material for signing. And then you can continue to number additional pages as you get more signers. But this will help you keep track of how many signers you have. Keep all your papers in one place so you don't lose any of them. They will all be on this legal pad, and they'll just help you to stay organized. Now when you've finished gathering your signatures make sure that you make a copy of everything before you submit your petition because you don't want to lose those precious signatures that you've gathered. You want to keep a copy in case the original becomes lost. So those are some ideas about how to write a petition.
