Hi, I'm Laura from youngwritersworkshops.com and I'm going to talk about how do you use peer tutoring in written language. Peer interaction in the writers, in writing classroom is wonderful. Any kind of peer conferencing that you can do helps kids to see each other as more equals as writers and also gives them practice in giving each other feedback. It gives them sort of the skill of reading each other's work and then they can apply that to reading their own work. So using any kind of peer conferencing in a writing workshop is very helpful. You can give kids a prompt; say you have a one student who's more advanced working with a student who has less, lower skill level. You might give them a prompt to work on together as a team and the stronger student might take the lead in, in writing, but the, but it engage the, the student who needs more support. So they could work as a team; this peer tutoring model could work in a partnership. You also might want to think about some, some forms of writing that both higher and lower level, skill levels will enjoy such as comic books or picture books that they might enjoy reading together and then they're making; and again, the tutor, the tutor student, the student with the higher skills may take the lead, but the other student can work as a partner for them and following the lead of this, of the higher level student and having some support in getting stronger in their skills.
