This is financial adviser Patrick Munro talking about how to improve your credit score, how to repair your credit score, and how to fix your credit score. Now really, those are interrelated terms, but your credit score is no doubt a very, very important number in your life. If you want to improve it, that's a good thing. It's a good goal to try an improve your credit score, and the way to do that is you have to know what your score is in the first instance. Make sure you send a letter to each of the three credit reporting agencies; Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion. They all have different addresses, and you'll want to send a certified letter with your social security number, requesting a copy of your report. In about ten business days you will receive that copy of the report, and go through it line by lined item. If there is ways to consolidate debt, do so. That'll raise your score. If there was ways to pay your bills in a more timely fashion, make sure you do so. 'Cause if you don't, you'll need to repair the credit score, and ultimately need to fix it as well.
