"This is financial adviser Patrick Munro talking about how to pay utility bills at the bank. Well, if you go into a bank and they know you and you've taken the time to know them, it's great to walk in with a specialty item of paying your utility bill there. Bank are...banks are notable agents of utility companies, and once you drop off your check to them made out to the utility, the bank will deposit it into the utilities account and, therefore, you are paid without having to write a stamp out and put the utility bill in the mail. It's another opportunity to present yourself at the bank and develop a relationship with the tellers and the people that are there. And if you go in on a regular basis, they'll get to know you even more. This is an important factor because when it comes time for having a loan or needing the bank for something in addition to the way you've been handling it with paying credit card bills and utility bills, the bank will have a tendency to give you a good decision.
