A general liability policy is going to cover you for any damage to the property you are working on. So if you are working in someone's home and you happen to knock down a wall that you weren't supposed to knock down or you start a fire and the house goes up in flames or you drop a hammer off the second floor on a kid walking home from school. It's going to cover you for those third-party actions while you're doing your work. Remodeling work insurance, same as contractor's insurance is going to be based typically off payroll. So it's going to be based off the owner of the company's payroll and any employee's payroll. And there's going be a rate assigned to that which will determine a given charge for how much the premium's going to cost you to get the insurance to do the remodeling work. Worker's compensation works similarly. If you have any employees, you need to purchase worker's compensation. Worker's compensation is also based on payroll times a rate and the rates are different in every state. And that's how you get about getting insurance to do remodeling work."
