Hello, my name is Doctor David Cathcart and I'm from Heartland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph, Missouri. Doctors make probably as little as around eighty thousand dollars a year to as much as...the sky's the limit. I mean, then again, it depends on your degree of specialty, but family practice doctors, for example, will average around a hundred and twenty to a hundred and fifty thousand dollars a year. Whereas cardiologists, who are doctors who specialize in disorders and treatment of the heart, will make more on the range of two hundred and twenty to two hundred and forty thousand dollars a year. Surgeons will make more than that, depending on the kind of surgery they do. For example, orthopedic surgeons, many of those guys will make three, four, five hundred thousand dollars a year. And the same thing, and know, a neurosurgeon will do the same thing. Other types of medicine don't make as much money. For example, pediatricians generally don't do as well, because they require or they depend so much on people who are not at a point in their life where they're able to make their bills as often. So, they're dependent more on what the insurance companies will pay them for their services, and they tend to cut 'em down quite a bit. So, you know, to ask how much a physician makes, or how much a doctor makes is a pretty wide open question. It really depends on the area that they're in, but I would say as little as around eighty thousand dollars to a year. Probably the average doctor would make somewhere in the range of a hundred and eighty to two fifty a year. Thanks for taking this time to explore medical careers with me. Again, I'm Doctor David Cathcart with Heartland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph, Missouri.
