"This is John Pinelli, financial representative going to be talking to you today about how to build a stock portfolio. When building a stock portfolio, it's important to number one, diversify the investments that you're making. Now what this means is investing in not only different companies but different sectors, different risk levels associated with each of these companies, that's the most important thing to consider when building your stock investment portfolio. You want to look at industries like energy as well, you want to look at industrial companies, you want to look at companies that are providing things that are going to be in demand when times are bad as well as when times are good. Retail is another big one. So there's a ton of companies out there, ton of different industries to look into but the most important thing is that you choose a diversified set of stocks. And when first choosing stocks, I would typically guide you to choose stocks that are more stable companies that have been around a longer period of time. In today's environment, what we're faced with, I would choose some stocks maybe that are in retail such as like Walmart who is going to be around during bad times, certain energy stocks are going to be huge, particularly solar, wind, these sort of emerging sources of energy that are in essence are renewable. So in conclusion, when looking at building a portfolio, think first of diversification and think how do I build a portfolio that's well balanced and it's going to fit in my individual investment goals and needs. This has been John Pinelli talking to you today about how to build an investment portfolio."
