Basically, burial insurance is a form of life insurance. What happens is, for the recipient, if they want to plan for the cost being covered by an insurance plan for their final expense, for their funeral arrangement, etcetera, there are plans that are called 'guaranteed issue'. These are basically term life, life insurance policies. Guaranteed issue means that there are no medical underwriting questions. So, if someone were even in a terminal illness situation, or they're just planning for some future contingency in that they may pass away, they want to have that final expense covered. The cheapest way, or less expensive way for the low-cost burial insurance is these guaranteed issue programs. Typically, most burial, final expense costs are around ten or fifteen thousand dollars. However you should check in your local market area with your local funeral directors to find out what the going rate is for a funeral in your market at this particular time. In the senior community, for those that may be looking at that final expense in a relatively near time of five, ten years, typically speaking a ten or fifteen thousand dollar final expense policy would probably cover those funeral expenses. For someone much younger, however, you might want to consider something that are pre-paid burial expenses, which is a non-insurance product, but basically you pre-pay your final expenses. That, again, you should consult a particular funeral director in your local market area. But the best bet is the guaranteed issue, final expense or burial insurance types of policies that are available from a number of different insurance companies.
