"Hi, I'm Rebecca Guenther with www. M5A1Photography.com, and I'm going to talk to you about how to become a surfing photographer. As with any line of photography, you want to start out at the very bottom. You want to start out, hopefully with your friends or find maybe surfers who want pictures taken of them, and you want to start by practicing. You know, you want to get out there and you want to start taking as many pictures as you can and then looking at them and figuring out what works, what looks like is already out there. Can you duplicate it? Then start discovering your own style and start sort of going away from it. It's also, of course, very important that you have some sort of waterproofing on your camera, either an underwater housing or an actual waterproof camera. I would think that to start out if you want to really not spend a lot of money, just pick up a waterproof, disposable camera and experiment with it. See the difference between how light works underwater versus above water and what happens when you're half below water and half above water, because light refracts differently when it comes through the water and things are going to look different. And that's how you become a surfing photographer."
