Hi, I'm Noah and today we're going to learn how to remove an icon from Windows XP Quick Start. Often, you'll want to remove these shortcuts because you already have them on your desktop or in your start menu and you'll want to save space, so you'll have room for lots of tabs on the bottom of your your screen. To remove an icon from the Quick Launch menu, simply go over to the icon, then right click on it, and then in the pop up menu that appears, select delete. Now if you just want to delete the icon, click the Delete Shortcut button, but if you actually want to un-install the program, you can select the Add or Remove Programs link. Now you can notice that that icon has disappeared from the quick launch menu. One thing to keep in mind is that it's not actually completely deleted. It's actually just sent to the recycle bin of your computer. So to really delete it, just right-click on your recycle bin and then form that pop up menu, select Empty Recycle Bin. Then just confirm by clicking Yes. Another thing you can do is just completely remove the Quick Launch menu all together to make all the icons disappear. Doing this is very simple. All you have to do is right-click on a blank space of the start bar. Then go to Tool bars in the pop up menu and then un-check the Quick Launch tool bar. Now you'll notice that the tool bar has disappeared all together and that all the icons are gone, but if you ever want to put it back, you can simply recheck the tool bar by doing the same procedure.
