Hi, I'm Amelia and I'm here to talk to you about how to strip a relaxer from your hair. Once you relax the hair, you can't strip it. You can't take it out. You've got to wait for it to grow out. Now some relaxers will revert, in other words, once they've been in the hair long enough, that hair will eventually come back to its natural state which is more curly. Unless it was a thermal relaxer, your thermal relaxers are permanent, so that's just going to have to be cut out and a lot of times the hair that's been previously relaxed doesn't like want to curl. Another option could be, if you're really wanting your curls back would be to, maybe get a body wave. However, that is doubling up on processes and could cause more damage. You're also going to want to make sure that you did not use a sodium based relaxer because if you use a sodium based relaxer and then put an ammonium hydroxide based product over that, you will have breakage; the hair will snap off. But if you use an ammonium based product, then you can, if you really feel like you need to, you can get a perm over it. You can try just curling it and seeing if the curl holds. But, pretty much once that hair's been relaxed, you have to wait for it to either revert or grow out.
