"Good afternoon. My name is Tom Brintzenhofe, Certified Master Mechanic, out of Reading, Pennsylvania and today I am laying on the ground to show you how to check your car's differential gear oil. Now it is real simple to check. Most vehicles have them in different locations but we are lucky enough that this Jeep is relatively pretty easy to get to. It has got a little plug here on the back of this rear end here with a differential carrier you have just got to get yourself a little tool similar to this and you can also use this for actually taking off door panels for the clips on the inside but I find that it works excellent on pulling these plugs out. Now here is your differential plug, a little rubber plug that sits on the back end. The easiest way to check it is to take that plug out, stick your finger in it and right below that hole is where your gear well level should be. If you get it on your finger after just sticking it in there you know it is good and full. Now that is the same plug that you used to check it and it is the same hole that you are going to use to fill it up. You want to fill it up until it just starts running out that hole and that is where it needs to be and like I said just check it with your finger and that is the easiest way to do it. That's how you check differential gear oil."
