"When you're considering how to select a chihuahua, you might want to back up a little bit and make sure that this is the breed for you. They're absolutely adorable little dogs, and they fit very well into homes that have done the research and made sure that this is the right breed for the family. But, they can have issues with other dogs, they can be a little bit more difficult to train, they don't tend to be terribly affectionate. Now, all of these things said, every breed of dogs, those are general characteristics, and individual dogs are always going to not follow, there will aways be individuals that don't follow the individual characteristics of the breed. But these are things to consider. I would strongly recommend, as with any breed of dog, that you do the research, talk to people who have the breed, make sure that this is the right breed for you before you go out and attempt to purchase one. They are generally easy to groom. They would potentially shed. So, take all of these things into consideration. We're talking about a really small dog, probably about six pounds. They are fairly active dogs, although they don't need a lot of exercise in general. When you're looking at a specific breed of dog consider always going to a very reputable breeder who breeds in small quantities trying to better the breed, so that they're looking at not just the look of the dog but also the temperament and the health of the dog, and then if you're hoping to spend a little bit of extra money, and give yourself a good feeling to boot, consider rescuing from a reputable rescue."
