Hi my name is John Niemira and I'm here at the Steven Henager College in Salt Lake City, Utah. I wanted to talk to you today about the sales promotion and starting your own sales promotion. The first thing you want to do is to develop a plan of some sort. Know the direction you can go, detail your plan, know the modes you are going to use for advertising. Decide on who your real customer base is, who are you trying to pull in for this promotion? Who do you want coming, who do you want buying your products, who do you want to get out there to the market for? Then decide which mode you want to use to get those people to your door. Which advertising mode will you use? Will you get on line, develop a website, advertise on line? Probably some of the best ways to go is on line. Then depending on your budget of course is you want to advertise on television, newspapers, radio. You should have a yellow page ad, flyers, bill boards, that sort of thing. Then the next way best would be the personal approach. Of course you have your customer base, go out and see where they are at. See where you can promote to public places, community organizations, large companies, schools, that sort of thing. Use those three modes, to get you started, get yourself on the right track, do yourself some research.
