The only process with a new company, is you would have to go down to the County offices. And file for a fictitious business name. A simple form and minimal fee. And you can have the name you chose. If you buy an existing company. You're probably best off, to keep the name they have. They probably have name recognition, they probably have a base of customers that already existed in their company. You, probably the best way to go, is keep the existing name. If you are starting a new company, it's completely up to you. You chose the name, you chose why that name works for you. It's best to go with a recognized name. Something that people will remember.
