How to Grow the Swan River Daisy (Brachycome Iberidifolia)

"Hi, this is Yolanda Vanveen, and in this segment we're going to learn all about how to grow the Swan River Daisy from Australia. Now the Swan River Daisy, or the Brachycome Iberidifolia is from Australia, so it likes really hot, hot climates that are very dry. It doesn't do well with a lot of humidity. So it can handle zones 9 to 11. So in colder climates, we treat it as an annual. You just start it by seed in the spring, let it bloom all summer long, then cut it back or save the seeds and then replant them in the spring. So they are an annual, and they make a great bedding or border plant. And they only get to about a foot tall, which isn't real tall, so they're just like African daisies, but they're very very short, and they're fragrant, and they have nice little daisy-like flower heads that come in mauve, blue, and sometimes even white, pink, and purple. They give you lots of color in the summer through the fall. So the Brachycome or the Swan River Daisies love full hot sun and good drainage. They still want to drink a lot of water when they're in bloom, but you really want to let them dry out in between. And you can start them by seed or you can start them by division if you live in a warm climates. But any way you plant them, they're a great daisy for your garden."
