You are a parent with both a male student, and a female student in a public school, and recently, you're not really wild or excited about the way your children seem to be treated because of their respective gender or sex. Hello, I'm Robert Todd and I'm here to answer the question, what is gender discrimination in schools? Well first of all, let me point out that title nine of the civil rights act of nineteen sixty four, specifically prohibits gender discrimination in schools that receive public funding or that participate in program that are publicly funded by the federal government. And it may be important to examine what is gender discrimination. That's basically assuming cultural biases that all males are good in math and science, and females are not, and somehow limiting the educational opportunities of females to participate in such programs, and or conversely assuming all females are good in the arts and males are not, and somehow prohibiting equal opportunities for males to participate in those art programs. I'm Robert Todd, and thank you for watching.
