"You're starting out a business, and one of your concerns is preventing gender discrimination or sex discrimination in your particular workplace. Hello, I'm Robert Todd, and I'm here to answer the question, what steps can an employer take to prevent gender discrimination? Well one of the first things you want to do is to establish a zero tolerance for gender discrimination. This will go a long way in preventing gender discrimination. And in that regard, you want to have a written policy which specifies that your particular business is not going to tolerate gender or sex discrimination in any way, shape or form. Whether it be in the form of actual discrimination in denying opportunities because of their gender, or if it be specifically prohibiting sexual harassment. OK. Sexual harassment is also considered gender discrimination. And sexual discrimination. Another way is to make sure that your managers, if not all of your employees, are regularly educated and trained to recognize what constitutes, what is considered sexual or gender discrimination. And another thing, is, if there is a complaint of sexual or gender discrimination, investigate fully, and if the investigation reveals a non compliance of your policy, take appropriate action. Even if it means dismissal of an employee that committed that offense. I'm Robert Todd, and thank you for watching."
