Video Transcript

"You have a business that is growing larger and now you believe that you may have to have workers compensation insurance coverage and you've never dealt with that before and so you want to know what you need to know and what you don't need to know. Hello, I'm Robert Todd and I'm here to answer the question, "What are the do's and don'ts of workers compensation"? Well first of all, the workers compensation laws are going to vary and differ in all fifty states. So the first you want to do is check the law in your particular state to see what applies to the business in your location. Now some common do's are; be sure to let your workers compensation insurance company know the exact number of the employees that will be working for you so that you can be sure they're all covered to the extent that you may employ temporary or temporary employees or casual labor or independent contractors, you also want to let the carrier know that. On the other hand, if you are an employee, you want to be sure and complete your application honestly and as completely as possible because if you leave out material and substantial information, you may be denied workers compensation benefits. I'm Robert Todd and thank you for watching."
