What is the smoothest bourbon whiskey? In this category I'd say you wouldn't want to go with a higher proof on the bourbon if you want something smoother. Like Booker's, I think is close to one hundred and twenty or one hundred and thirty proof whereas it's a very well made bourbon and it tastes great, and I'm sure if you diluted it you know, it would be much smoother. If you were to drink it straight or you know as a Manhattan or something like that it would be very strong. Woodford Reserve is a very smooth one but you know, like I said with strong ones it's also a little stronger. So I would go with a basic eighty proof bourbon. The smoothest one I can think of is probably Basil Hayden's. That is a great, very smooth bourbon and surprisingly Knob Creek, although it is one hundred proof it is incredibly smooth and also one of my favorites next to Woodford Reserve. Jim Beam is a great bourbon. It's not that expensive and it is eighty proof. It is also quite smooth. You could also go with a Jim Beam Black which I believe is just aged a little longer. As with any alcohol, the longer it's matured the smoother it becomes.
