"Hi, I want to talk to you today about the importance of hand washing. One, is to get the dirt off your hands, the visible dirt. The other, is to decrease the count of bacteria, that are on your hands, that causes infection. We all hear about staph and the mersa, and how deadly it can be, and it is true. It is a resistant staph, and so washing your hands, decreases the amount of bacteria, that's on your hands, that causes pathogens, which pathogens are disease causing organisms. Everyone should be washing their hands. I don't mean be fanatical about it, and just go crazy with it, but just to be able to keep your hands clean, decrease the count of bacteria, like I said. This is important for everybody. This is important especially, for health care personnel, because of cross contamination from patient to patient. It's very important in childcare centers, where there is a lot of runny nose, and a lot of little kids, that their immune system has not come up to par, and they're young, and they might have not gone to childcare before, and they're going to be catching colds, and spreading them around, so to wash your hands after every time that you wipe a nose, go and wash your hands. It's not good enough just to use the disinfectant hand solution. It is much better, because you want to remember, decrease that count of bacteria, that's on your hands, that causes diseases, and to keep down that cross contamination of colds and sicknesses, between the children, or between your patients, or between your friends, at parties, or wherever you go, or to fellowship, so you want to make sure that you wash your hands. When you shake hands with someone, you don't know where they've been, or where their hands have been, before they shook your hand, so you want to make sure you wash your hands frequently. The in between times that you cannot wash your hands, we will stress that maybe a little bit later, in another clip, but just using the hand sanitizer is good for in betweens, but it does not decrease all that bacteria off your hands, and it does not get the dirt and the grime off your hands either, so wash your hands, wash them properly, dry them properly and wash them often. After bathroom especially, after you've been to the bathroom, before you eat, and before you touch another person, it is always good to wash your hands, and not cross contaminate, and carry the germs, from one person to the other."
