"Hi everyone my name is Dave Casuto and I'm from San Francisco Computer Tutors and in this exercise we are going to show you the very simple process of how to create a link using Dreamweaver basically by making a word turned into a link or a hyperlink so when you click on it it takes you to another page. So you are going to want to make sure that you have your properties panel open by going into windows and then properties, you will see there. That will be the first thing you'll do. The second thing is I want to make this home be a link so I'm going to click on home first of all and I'm going to look at my properties panel, you see I am going to have something that is called link so I am just going to call this index.html, that's what your home page typically is going to be and I'm going to click o'kay. I'm going to do the same thing for about us. I'm going to go to about, about html, etc., etc. Now notice when I am putting in the link I don't actually have to put in www or http or anything like that because it is actually in my root folder and if it is not you should put it in there so actually I am noticing now that mine is called about us, not just about, and it would be very important to get that straight. So I'm going to hit enter and now you can see here in real time it is changing them into links so I can do services.html, and then let's do contact.html. Now let's say for example you are working with something that is coming from the outside, and that is something that is another website that is outside of your root folder. Let's say for example with story street I want to link this icon, I want to link this logo to an outside site and in that case you would have to put in http:/www.storystreet.net and then that is going to make this a link and it is also going to take you to an external link. That's is going to be very important to know about external links you can't just put in storystreet.net at this point. So let's go ahead and test it out in our browser. It is going to ask me if I want to save it and I want to say save and now these are all different links for me so I can go to about us, right, it takes me there and this page says has not yet put links on there yet, and here is Story Street and that takes me right to Story Street to the actual web site. So you see how that is done so it is pretty easy, pretty straightforward and go ahead and practice it. That concludes that tutorial on creating links from Dreamweaver. I hope you enjoyed that and my name is Dave Casuto from San Francisco Computer Tutors and I'm up on yelp.com if you'd like to look me up under San Francisco Computer Tutors and feel free to contact me at any time. Thanks."
