"Hi my name is Dave Andrews, today I'm going to show you how to speed up and keep a computer clean. Let's go to our computer. And this is Windows Vista. The first thing I'm going to do is run a disk clean up. So I'm going to click on our start button. And we're going to type in control panel. Which is what we're going to access. So just like control panel. And let's click on it. Now make sure you're in the classic view. And we're going to go to the performance view, the inside of the control panel. That's going to allow us to run a disk clean up. So select performance information tools. And now over here on the left side, we want to click on open disk clean up. It's going to ask you what files you want to clean up on your computer. I'm just going to do my files only. What this is going to do, is it's going to go through my files, and it's going to delete temporary Internet files, it's going to delete temporary files created by programs, basically clean up the computer in general. So I'm going do the C drive, and click OK. So it's running. Another thing that we're going to do to speed up our computer, is check what programs are running when the computer starts. To do so, click on the start button, we're going to run MSCONFIG. Just click on that. Now you have to be an administrator on Vista, so just click continue. Let's go to the start up tab. Now these are a list of programs that run when your computer boots up. And you can uncheck them to keep them from running. Now these programs will boot as soon as you log in, and as you can see, if I had allowed all of these to boot, that would have been a whole lot of programs my computer had to load up and run. So, by stopping those from running I've tremendously sped up my computer. My name is Dave Andrews, and I've just showed you hot to clean up and speed up your computer."
