"In this segment we will discuss what a proxy server is and how it works. Basically this is used in a business setting although you could use it in your home but most people don't have that need but in a business setting it is basically a proxy computer is a middle computer that sits between the client and the primary server. That middle man or intermediate computer will basically cache information so something that the employees are accessing off them on the main server, instead of having to go directly to the main server this information will be cached on the proxy server and it makes it much faster so instead of having to access the main server constantly you are getting the information from the proxy server so that increases speed and efficiency of that network. Another use of it is for filtering. If the owners of the company or management don't want employees accessing certain websites or certain information the proxy server can be used as a filtering device to keep employees away from those sites and that information."
