Video Transcript

"Hello, I am Patti German, a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, in New York City. In this clip, we're going to talk about how to initiate a conversation. Conversations are a way of really connecting with another person. The way to initiate any conversation, is to be genuinely interested in another person, and something about them that attracts you. Everyone is different. It could be somebody who chooses a particular color tie, and you can just start a conversation by saying something like, Hey, that's a great tie. How did you pick that? but keep your questions to how, so that it enables another person to start talking, and elaborating, on what it is you're curious about. People become very excited when you're interested in something about them, and that's a way to start it, and to stay with the idea, that you're interested in another person. This is Patti German, in New York City."
