"Hello, I am Patti German, a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, in New York City. In this clip, we're going to talk about how to be popular. Most people want to be popular, because popularity means that people include you, and people want you, and you get invited to things, and you're esteemed and valued, so I think the most important way to be popular, is to really try to understand yourself, and to like yourself, more than anything. If you like yourself, others are going to like you, and going to want to have you around. When you're with other people, I think the most important thing in being popular, is to ask people questions about themselves. Nobody likes someone who just rambles on about themselves, all the time. It's very boring, but if you want to be really popular, you can hook into other people, by asking them questions, about how they do what they do, what they like about it, and stay with encouraging others, to talk about themselves, and if that comes across as a very genuine feeling, I think it really feeds popularity. This is Patti German, in New York City."
